“Dear Woman, Here’s Why You’re Tired (And It’s Not Just Because You’re Busy)”

Let me guess. You woke up tired, dragged yourself through the day, juggled a thousand things—and somehow, the to-do list is still longer than your patience. But when you try to explain the exhaustion, people say, “Just rest now.”

Girl… rest? Where? When? How?

If this sounds like your everyday life, you’re not alone—and no, you’re not lazy. You’re not failing. You’re just tired. Deeply. On multiple levels. And I’m here to tell you why.

1. You’re Carrying More Than You Realise (a.k.a. The Mental Load)

Ever feel like you're the one who remembers everything—doctor’s appointments, bills, birthdays, what’s running low in the fridge, and who’s feeling moody in the house? That’s not just memory. That’s mental labour—and it’s exhausting.

Many women are the invisible managers of their homes and lives. And no one is applauding you for it. But I see it. It counts. And it’s heavy.

2. Your Hormones May Be Screaming for Help

Tiredness isn’t always solved by sleep. It can be your body whispering (or yelling), “Something’s off!”

Suppose you’re dealing with irregular periods, unexplained mood swings, low libido, or stubborn weight, hello, hormonal imbalance. Common culprits include cortisol, estrogen, and thyroid dysfunction, especially if you’re constantly stressed.

You can’t “positive vibe” your way out of what your body needs addressed.

3. Nutrient Deficiencies Are More Common Than You Think

Iron. Vitamin D. B12. Magnesium. These aren’t fancy supplements—they’re basic fuel for your body and mind. And many women are running low, especially after pregnancy, during stressful phases, or with poor dietary habits (no shade, just facts).

This could be the silent thief if you're constantly foggy, low-energy, or crashing midday.

4. You're Emotionally Burnt Out, But Still Showing Up

Being “strong” is expensive, sis. The emotional strength it takes to smile through chaos, suppress emotions, and pour into others without being poured into... It builds up like unpaid rent in your nervous system. And burnout doesn’t ask for permission before crashing the party.

5. Society Glorifies the Overworked Woman

Let’s be real: if a woman isn’t multitasking, society wonders if she’s even trying. But overachievement is not wellness. Just because you can do it all doesn’t mean you should.

What You Can Start Doing Today

  • Start checking in with yourself daily—not just physically, but emotionally.

  • Get your bloodwork done (yes, I offer consultations for this).

  • Take guilt-free naps—no explanation needed.

  • Eat like you deserve energy.

  • Say “no” more often than feels comfortable.

  • And most importantly, don’t wait until you break down to ask for help.

Your Tiredness Is Valid. But It Doesn’t Have to Be Permanent.

I created Naijahousewife for women like you—smart, strong, soulful women ready to stop surviving and start thriving.

With love and realness, xoxo
